Schendy Kernizan, a Haitian-American Architectural Designer, with a professional degree in Architecture from Philadelphia University. Schendy is currently a Research Scientist and Director at the Self-Assembly Lab in the Department of Architecture, MIT. Prior to Boston, Schendy worked in Haiti and was involved in architectural relief efforts following the 2010 earthquake, which devastated the third-world country. A Design Fellow with the US-based non-profit Architecture for Humanity, Schendy served as a Project Manager, as well as a Designer. Since Haiti, Schendy worked for the Boston-based firm Dimella Shaffer Architects, before joining Self Assembly Lab at MIT. Parallel to his researcher role, he teaches a design studio at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
