Climate-Active Textiles

Self-Assembly Lab, MIT + Ministry of Supply + Hills Inc. + U. Maine + Iowa State U.

MIT’s Self Assembly Lab and MIT-born apparel company Ministry of Supply have developed Climate-Active Textiles that continually adapt to temperature changes to keep us comfortable in ever-changing environments. This new type of textile can reversibly transform its porosity for breathability, thickness for insulation and shape for compression or fit. This technology was developed with support from the federal non-profit Advanced Functional Fibers of America (AFFOA).
